Texas and San Antonio Details

Texas requires liability limits of at least $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 for property damage, written as 30/60/25. A newer vehicle or one serious accident can go past those limits fast, so many drivers choose higher limits.

Insurance companies in Texas must include personal injury protection of at least $2,500 and offer uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. You can turn either down, but it has to be in writing. We go over both before you decide.

Hail is a regular San Antonio auto claim. Liability alone does not pay for hail damage to your own car.

Common Questions

What Are the Minimum Car Insurance Requirements in Texas?

Liability of $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 for property damage. Insurance companies must also include PIP and offer uninsured motorist coverage unless you reject them in writing.

Should I Carry Uninsured Motorist Coverage?

It is worth a close look in Texas, where some drivers carry no insurance. It pays for your injuries and, with the property damage part, your car when an uninsured driver is at fault.

Does My Auto Policy Cover Hail?

Yes, when your policy includes the physical damage coverage that handles theft, hail and flood. Liability alone does not cover damage to your own car.

Can I Add a Teen Driver?

Yes. Add them when they get their license. Many insurance companies offer good student and driver training discounts.

Do You Insure Motorcycles and Trailers?

Yes. Motorcycles, trailers and RVs can be quoted on their own or alongside your auto policy.
