Timberbrook Insurance

Commercial Auto Insurance in San Antonio

Coverage for the trucks, vans and trailers your business owns, and for the times employees drive their own cars on company errands.

Who It's For

Contractors and Service Companies

Pickups, work vans and trailers that carry tools, materials and crews.

Delivery and Catering

Vehicles used for deliveries, catering runs and supply pickups.

Businesses Without Company Vehicles

Employees running errands in their own cars can still expose your business. Hired and nonowned auto covers that.

What It Covers

Liability

Injury and property damage your drivers cause to others.

Physical Damage

Collision and other than collision coverage for your vehicles, including hail, theft and fire.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist

Covers your drivers when the at fault driver has no insurance or not enough.

Hired and Nonowned Auto

Liability for your business when employees use their own vehicles for work or you rent a vehicle.

Medical Payments or PIP

Medical bills for your driver and passengers after an accident.

Trailers

Trailers listed on the policy. Tools and equipment on them are covered separately under an inland marine policy.

Texas and San Antonio Details

A personal auto policy can exclude or limit coverage for a vehicle titled to your business or used mainly for work, such as hauling materials or making deliveries. If the truck is in the company name, it belongs on a commercial policy.

Texas minimum liability limits are $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 for property damage. Those limits are low for a work truck; general contractors and commercial clients commonly ask for $1,000,000.

We write work vehicles for contractors and service businesses. Long haul trucking and hauling for hire need their own filings and programs, so tell us up front if that is part of what you do.

Common Questions

Can I Keep My Work Truck on My Personal Policy?

Sometimes, if it is titled to you and work use is light. If the truck is titled to your business, carries employees or hauls materials for jobs, a commercial policy is usually the right fit.

What Is Hired and Nonowned Auto?

Liability coverage for your business when employees drive their own vehicles for work or when you rent a vehicle. It does not pay for damage to the employee's car.

Are My Tools Covered in My Truck?

Not by the auto policy. Tools and equipment need an inland marine policy, which can cover them in your truck, at the jobsite or in storage.

Do My Drivers Need to Be Listed?

Most commercial auto policies list each regular driver and check their records. Tell us about new drivers before they get behind the wheel.

Does Commercial Auto Cover Hail Damage?

Yes, when the vehicle carries physical damage coverage other than collision. Liability coverage alone does not pay for damage to your own vehicle.
